Hey daughter of God,
I hope that this weeks newsletter finds you well. One of the things that I truly enjoy about God is how he speaks to me. For a long time I did not hear from God due to not have a relationship with Him. Once I was able to learn the simple but sometimes difficult art of reading my bible, I was able to hear God much more than before.
While reading this week I was led to the story of Joshua and Caleb. If you have never read this story head over to Numbers 13-14 after my quick overview.
After speaking with God Moses gave instruction for 12 leaders to got out and spy on the land of Canaan. This was land that gave the children of Israel but someone else was in possession of the land. They were given specific instruction to do four things:
- See what the land is and who are the people that live there.
- Is the land good or bad, do the people live in tents or strongholds.
- Is the land fat(plenty) or is it lean and is there wood in the land or not.
- Be of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land! (Bring some back when they return)
It took them 40 days to spy out the land. That right there was significant to me because Jesus and other great men in the bible fasted for 40 days and went on the do miraculous things. It also showed me that they place they were going was so big that it took them over a month to view it all! The last instruction was to be of good courage, this stands to reason that there were going to be somethings that they saw that would cause them to doubt their ability to possess that land, again land that was already mandated by God as theirs. BUT they were told to bring back the fruit of the land and it was during the first fruit or Pentecost season so this was time where the harvest was the best!! Even though they saw the giants the Lord was giving them preview of what He had instore for them.
Sometimes when God gives you direction and you go and spy out the land in prayer or fasting, the outside circumstances may not match what he has said/ revealed to you and that is when you have an indicator that you are in a wilderness season. The Lord is building your capacity and he is building your faith. During this time he will give instruction, encouragement, and exhortation. There may also be a warning given if you are not wise with your attitude and your words.
While you are in the wilderness here are three things you can do to help pass the test:
- Make sure you meditate on the word that God gave you and follow the instructions.
- Have you ever built something and skipped the instructions? Usually you get to a certain point and have to start over because something is backwards or on the wrong side lol. This is what happens when we don't listen to God and obey his instructions for us. We waste time and things are put together with a faulty foundation.
- Be careful of who you are around.
- You may be the only person who has the faith needed to move out of that wilderness season. Being mindful of who you talk with during this time is important because they can sway your beliefs and cause you to stay in that wilderness because its comfortable. Even though your spirit wants to grow your flesh may be more dominate and what that person says can cause you to justify NOT doing what God told you. God wants you to experience more.
- Speak only what the word of God says.
- No matter what it looks like, the only words that need to be spoken during this time should be words that will cause angels to move on your behalf. Complaining and whining will not cut it in this season.
- In this season God wants to prepare you for where you are going and you can't take old mindsets, patterns, and views into the new land. You must speak from your place as a daughter.
When you read Numbers 13-14 please let me know what Holy Spirit reveals to you about not be careful with your words and how you can miss the mark.
