Life can lead you to the strangest places.
A while ago, I was helping a friend with decluttering her art studio.
We sorted out what she wanted to keep and what she wanted to toss.
One of the items she wanted to discard completely was a beautiful, embroidered table cloth that she had made. It was stained but the embroidery was intact. So I asked her if I could have it and do something with it. Since she was about to throw it away anyway, she thought that it was a good idea to let me do something with it instead.
So I cut out the embroidery to free it from the stains on the cloth.
When I saw the cutout, it reminded me of a rabbit. My mind wondered to the white rabbit that leads Alice to Wonderland. I've always seen the white rabbit as a symbol of the syncronicities in life, which when followed leads us to the strangest and most beautiful places that we couldn't even imagine.
I started to embroider some eyes to make it look more like a creature than just a boquet of flowers.
The edges around the rabbit was still quite rough, so I decided to smoothen the edges with some freeform crochet.
As you might know if you follow my work on Youtube, I love and live for freeform crochet. This free technique allows you to really come in contact with your intuitive self and I've found that it helps you break free from life patterns (no pun intended).
I've also been working on a fun and creative embroidery technique that is quite intuitive and freeform as well, and I decided to ebroider the edges with this technique. I used some scrap yarn that I had, and it turned out to enfold into a beautiful rainbow.
And this is where I'm currently at. The embroidery takes forever to finish 😅
I'm learning as I go, but my intuition tells me that this embroidery technique will be the next white rabbit for me to follow and integrate into my work.
