Unboxing The Fauna and the Flora

The boxes are open — and The Fauna and the Flora has officially arrived in its final form.

This isn’t the first time I’ve held the book, but it’s the first time I’ve seen the finished version — the real deal, in bulk. Thirty copies stacked neatly inside two boxes, each one ready to head out into the world.

I spent a long time deciding on the print details. Cream paper over white because it gives the pages that retro feel — not yellow, just easy on the eyes. Matte satin cover instead of glossy because it fits the tone of the story. A little soft, a little grounded, nothing flashy.

There’s also a section in the back for book club questions. I added those for readers who want to talk about the story the way we talk about soaps — asking why characters make the choices they do, and what it says about them.

The launch is coming up fast, and this unboxing felt like the first big step from “in progress” to alive in the world.

You can watch the full unboxing video — me opening the boxes, inspecting every detail, and claiming the slightly dented copy that’s now officially mine.
