AI PRACTICE #1-Choose One Idea

Choose One Idea

Learning to Make AI Work for Me—even as It Changes

Over the past year, I’ve been learning my way around ChatGPT. I thought I knew a little about AI, but in the last six months, I’ve made a real decision to learn more—and to keep learning as things change.

I’m not trying to chase every new feature or know everything all at once. I’m learning how to apply AI in ways that help me move toward my goals.

That has meant asking myself better questions: How can I use AI to organize my ideas? How can I take something I’ve experienced and shape it into content that may help someone else? How can I use it to keep moving when I have a lot on my mind and I’m not sure where to begin?

At 55, staying organized is one of my biggest challenges. I have plenty of ideas. Sometimes the hard part is choosing one, giving it some attention, and deciding what the next step should be. I’m learning that AI can help me sort through the ideas and make a little more room to focus.

I’m also learning that the tools will keep changing. That can feel like a lot, especially when I’m still learning what I thought I already knew. But I don’t have to master every change the moment it happens. I can keep returning to what matters: learning how to use the tools in front of me to help me reach my goals.

That is what learning AI means to me now. It’s not just learning what a tool can do. It’s learning how to apply it to my real life, my experience, and the work I want to accomplish—even as the tools change.

I’ve written before about making use of AI as my personal assistant. That article shares another part of how I got here. These weekly practices are a way for me to keep building on that learning, one manageable step at a time—and to share what I’m discovering with other women over 50 who have ideas of their own.

This Week’s Practice #1: Choose One Idea

My goal: Use AI to help me take one idea out of the pile and give it a clear next step.

Try this: Take about 10 minutes. Write down three ideas you’ve been thinking about. Circle the one you feel most ready to explore. Then write a few lines about why it matters to you and what you’ve experienced that connects to it.

Reusable prompt:

I’m learning to use AI to organize my ideas and make progress toward my goals. Here is one idea I want to explore: [add your idea]. Ask me three short questions about why it matters to me and what I’ve experienced. Then help me turn my answers into one clear message for women over 50. Keep it honest, warm, and in my voice. Do not invent details about my life or promise results. Suggest one small next step I can take.

This one practice can grow in a few directions. I can record a video for my website about choosing one idea, make a short TikTok to introduce the practice, and offer the worksheet and prompt as a digital download. The first weekly practice is free. As I create more, I can decide whether to offer them on their own or bundle them together.

Much Love, Keep Journaling,

Mz. Vee
