The survival game invasion trope is less of an alternate universe style trope and more of an isekai/transmigration style trope, because the players aren’t necessarily taken to an alternate universe like the Omegaverse, but a game-like dimension that’s run by the system.
If you're unfamiliar with the trope, it's basically when an alien system (of sorts) pulls humanity into a game survival environment, (like a never ending highway, a deserted island, a raft floating on sea, an island in the sky, a treehouse, or even the core of the earth, or at the bottom of the ocean), where humans (though there are some stories that involved alien lifeforms too!) have to survive to live and maybe save their worlds from extinction!
They can also level up themselves, their vehicles/rafts/islands/treehouses, get treasure boxes, sometimes even fight monsters and so on similar to survival games you typically find nowadays!
The type of survival scenario a player can up in is definitely not limited to the ones I had listed, but they are definitely some of the popular ones.
Usually books featuring the survival game invasion trope focuses more on the actual survival than any type of romance, but if you’re like me and like your books with a little romance you can definitely worldbuild your survival game to include it!
It really all depends on you and your creativity.
