For as long as I can remember, I’ve lived with one foot in the ordinary world and one foot firmly in the unknown. I’ve never been someone who blindly believes every story, but I’ve also experienced more than enough to know that not everything can be explained away. I call myself a sceptical believer—someone who questions, analyses, and searches for evidence, but who is also open to the reality that there is far more going on than we can see.
That balance—curiosity and caution, belief and logic—has shaped my entire journey as a paranormal investigator.
How It All Began
My path into the paranormal started from a young age. It terrified me, the unexplained noises, screams, and banging from some unknown...thing. Poltergeist activity was strong in my childhood home. Many other instances throughout my life, shadow figures, both huge and tiny, freezing temperature drops, items disappearing and reappearing out of nowhere, and multiple levitating objects. The list is endless. These encounters put me on a path I would not see for years to come.
It started with questions. Small moments that didn’t make sense. Feelings that didn’t match the atmosphere of a room. Stories people told me that lingered far longer than they should have.
I simply wanted to understand why these things happened.
That curiosity drove me to look deeper, research more, and eventually take my investigations out of the “interest” category and into something far more meaningful, serious and structured.
RBR Paranormal Investigations
When I created RBR Paranormal Investigations, my goal was simple:
to build a place where the paranormal could be explored with integrity, respect, and clarity. To find answers to my own childhood experiences. To lose the fear and find the understanding. To find out….why?
I didn’t want sensationalism.
I didn’t want drama.
I wanted an honest investigation.
There are too many investigators out there screaming demon every time they hear or see something they haven’t even tried to explain yet. Too many TV shows are doing the same thing, and in my eyes, bringing the world of paranormal investigation into disrepute. I wanted to change that, at least in my part of the United Kingdom.
RBR became a space where people could come to me with their questions, their fears, and their experiences—and know that they would be taken seriously.
Over the years, I’ve worked in historic buildings, private homes, manor houses, huge Victorian hotels and places that hold emotional weight for families and communities. Every location tells its own story, and I’ve learned to listen to each one carefully.
I also ran The Para Group in Saltburn by the Sea, where people would come along every month and discuss all things Para. From the paranormal, to parapsychology, cryptozoology, UFOs, space clearing, and so much more.
The intention was to teach and inform people of the many unexplainable things that happen on this planet. That everything isn’t as it first seems. The unknown is not as scary as you may think.
What I’ve Experienced Over the Years
There has been so much happened through the years, so I will keep this short-ish
I’ve seen shadows move with intention.
I’ve heard unexplained growling, deep, guttural, coming from the air itself.
I’ve stood in cold spots that appeared out of nowhere.
I’ve heard voices reply when the room was empty moments before.
And I’ve watched lights behave in ways no wiring, no drafts, and no equipment fault could ever explain.
I’ve also witnessed the emotional side of the paranormal—
the relief of a family finally understanding what’s happening in their home,
or the lingering energy of someone who once lived, loved, or suffered in a space.
Do I believe everything? No.
Do I dismiss things easily? Also no.
I still rule out every natural possibility first, and I’m very analytical in my process—but I’m definitely more of a believer now than when I began. Experience has a way of changing you.
What You Can Expect When You Investigate With Me
People often ask what it’s like to join me on an investigation. Here’s what I value:
A Calm, Grounded Approach
I don’t shout at shadows or chase noises.
I stay focused, steady, and aware.
A Blend of Science and Spirit
I use equipment—cameras, audio, temperature monitoring, EMF meters and more—
But I also rely on intuition and the natural atmosphere of a place.
Scepticism with Respect
We explore every explanation before calling something paranormal.
No jumping to conclusions. No fear mongering.
Ethics and Safety First
People’s homes, emotions, and experiences matter.
I protect confidentiality and approach every case with care.
A Learning Environment
When you investigate with me, you’ll learn how to:
- read a room on multiple levels
- Use paranormal tools properly
- recognise real anomalies
- stay calm under pressure
- interpret activity both analytically and intuitively
It’s not just about experiencing the paranormal—it’s about understanding it.
Why I Still Do This Work
I continue investigating because every case teaches me something new.
Because the world is stranger and more fascinating than we admit.
And because helping people make sense of what they’re experiencing is meaningful work.
I’m still the sceptical believer I’ve been for many years,
just with sharper instincts, deeper experience, and a stronger connection to the unseen world.
This path has shaped who I am,
and sharing it with others is one of the best parts of the journey.
The Paranormal Investigators Institute (PII) is my way of bringing structure, integrity, and real education into a field that is too often misunderstood. I created PII to offer a grounded, respectful, and professional approach to paranormal investigation—one that blends analytical thinking, spiritual understanding, and hands-on experience. Right now, PII serves as a place where people can learn how to investigate safely, ethically, and effectively, whether they are complete beginners or already experienced. My long-term aim is to expand PII into a trusted hub for training, research, and community: workshops, investigation weeks, certification programs, and training a network of investigators who uphold the same standards of honesty, curiosity, and respect. The future of PII is about raising the bar for paranormal work and giving people a real path into this field—one that is grounded, supportive, and built on both evidence and experience.
Thank you for taking the time to step into my world for a moment. If anything you’ve read has sparked curiosity, I invite you to explore the rest of the website, browse the events, trainings, and investigations, and see what resonates with you. Whether you’re drawn to learning, joining an investigation, or simply discovering more about the unseen layers of our world, you’ll find something here that speaks to your own sense of wonder. Welcome—and I hope our paths cross soon.
