Last night, I had a dream that shook me to my core. It wasn't a nightmare of monsters, but a profound narrative woven by my subconscious, highlighting a battle I know many spiritual entrepreneurs, especially us melanated women building our own tables, face daily. I’m sharing this because if it resonated with me this deeply, it might hold a mirror for you, too.
The Dream:
I was in a client’s home—a kind, infinitely patient woman who had already paid for a reading. My mind was fixated on my “real job,” a CNA position, terrified of being late. I lollygagged, distracted myself, and danced around my purpose while she waited with a gentle smile.
Time was fluid and deceptive. Her digital watch was “dead” until I looked, and it lit up to show 6:30, giving me a false sense of security. Then, my youngest daughter entered, her Apple watch declaring 8:30, while an old-school clock above her head seemed to read 5:23. The dissonance was paralyzing. When I tried to cry out that I was late, that I was supposed to be at work at 8, the words that left my mouth were not “8:30” but “888.” Triple eights. The number of abundance, infinity, and financial flow in the spiritual realm.
My daughter, the voice of my waking truth, said, “Mom just do the reading, you’re your own boss.” And here was the crux: In the dream, I argued with her, citing fear, clinging to the “safety” of the CNA job. Yet, in my waking life, my spiritual practice has been housing and feeding us solely for months. My dream-self was living a lie my awake-self has already disproven.
I rushed to leave, and the patient client walked with me. Outside, I was lost, irritated, and cold. Then, a vicious dog appeared and attacked her. I fought it off once, but it returned at the speed of light to “finish the job.” I was left distraught, thinking, “If I had done the reading for her, maybe I could’ve prevented this!”
The Interpretation:
This dream is a masterclass from the soul.
· The Patient Client: She is your Purpose, your Spirit, your Highest Self. She has already paid—the investment is in you. She is kindness and patience, but she is also waiting on you to show up for the contract you agreed to.
· The Time Warp & 888: The conflicting clocks represent the dissonance between linear, corporate time (the Apple watch, the job clock) and divine timing (the old-school clock, the watch that lights up only when you look). Your mouth forcing out “888” is your spirit screaming through the noise of fear. It’s a direct message: Your abundance is here, in this path, in this present moment. It is infinite (888), not scarce (being “late”).
· The Daughter’s Voice: She is your waking logic and truth, the part of you that knows the evidence: your spiritual work is sustaining you. The dream’s fear is a ghost, haunting you with an outdated narrative.
· The Cold Walk & The Lost Car: This is the feeling of being unprepared, exposed, and off-path when you abandon your purpose for perceived “security.” The “car,” your usual vehicle to navigate life, is unavailable. You’re forced to walk, uncomfortably, on a path you didn’t choose.
· The Vicious Dog & The Tragic Outcome: The dog is the embodiment of fear, lack, and sabotage that attacks your purpose when you delay it. The first fight shows you have the strength to combat it. Its lightning-speed return signifies how quickly doubt can destroy what we’ve built if we turn our backs. The devastating thought—“If I had done the reading…”—is the core lesson. When we delay our calling, we don’t just fail ourselves; we potentially fail to offer the healing, insight, or service that could alter someone else’s trajectory (or our own). Her fate symbolizes what happens to our spirit when we keep it waiting indefinitely.
The Wake-Up Call:
This dream is not a gentle nudge; it’s a spiritual alarm clock. You are being shown that the “security” you’re running toward (the CNA job in the dream) is an illusion that makes you late for your own destiny. The true danger isn’t in failing at your spiritual work—your waking life proves you’re already succeeding. The true danger is in abandoning it for a fear that has already been proven false.
The universe, your clients, and your own spirit are waiting with infinite patience. But patience is not indefinite. It’s time to sit down with the Patient Client within and pull the cards. Your 888 is now.
