さまざまな音楽の場や試みの場としてコンピを企画したり、作品をリリースできたらいいなと思っています。
ロゴはシンプルなツールでも作成しやすいように四角の形にしてみました。これはまた変更するかもしれませんが、作りやすく色がついていないのでいいかもしれません。
totecoroという語は 「トテ」「コロ」という擬音とtote「運ぶ」 ラテン語のcor「心」 などから。corは「core」や「accord」「record」「encourage」などさまざまな語源にもなっています。そういう幅のあるが中心概念となるものを運ぶということと、それと対比してそれらが気軽さや軽い擬音の物音の中に込められているということで名前をつけてみました。柔らかさや接しやすさがありつつも、コアとして中心概念の思いというものは持っているということの意味をつけてみています。固定された作品としての音源を届けるのではなく、柔らかな実践の場としての範囲を考える場としてみたいです。
I’d like to use totecoro records as a place where individual releases can happen, but also as a platform for plain music, compilations, and broader forms of activity.
I’m hoping it can become a space for various musical contexts and experiments—for planning compilations, and for releasing works.
For the logo, I made it a square shape so it can be created easily even with simple tools. I may change it again, but it might be a good direction: it’s straightforward to make, and it remains uncolored.
The word “totecoro” comes from onomatopoeic sounds—“tote” and “koro”—as well as tote (“to carry”) and the Latin cor (“heart”). Cor is also part of the roots of many words—core, accord, record, encourage, and others. I chose this name to suggest “carrying” something that can become a central concept with breadth and range, while at the same time placing it in contrast with something casual: light, small sounds—an easy kind of onomatopoeia. In that sense, the name aims to hold both softness and approachability, while still keeping a core intention at its center.
Rather than delivering sound recordings as fixed, finalized works, I want to think of this as a flexible site of practice—a gentle, open-ended space where the scope itself can be explored.
