If you own a 2024 TCL TV, the wait for automatic calibration is nearly over. Portrait Displays now states that a TCL firmware update expected in fall 2026 will enable Calman AutoCal on supported 2024, 2025 and 2026 models. That includes the 2024 C65, C76, C85, C95, T8B and X95. TCL has also confirmed this timing to me on the Experts meet Experts event earlier this year, so we expect the update to arrive before the end of the year.
Once the update lands, Calman will be able to calibrate these TVs in SDR, HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision using a 1D grayscale and 3D LUT workflow, which means more accurate color and grayscale than the picture menus alone can deliver. That is the kind of precision you would otherwise only get from a manual calibration. As soon as the firmware is available, I will be check it out, so stay tuned for updates.
