well hello new website checkkkk. you guys, as much as patreon was a vibe, it didn’t scratch the itch i had for a little girly website and now im finally here!!
so for this month’s theme, i was truly inspired by the eid collection by LUSH. every year for the past couple years they do a really inclusive launch for eid with cute festive colors and decals that truly represents the vibrant excitement of this holiday for us Muslims. growing up in new york city, i didn’t always have something to share about this holiday. as much as it is magical during holiday season for thanksgivings and christmas’s here, i’ve always wanted to see my own holiday shared in the same light. and lately, it has been! and it’s been so fun sharing the delights and joys that come with our holidays. when i saw this collection, i just knew i had to draw it.
lush has been one of my favorites since high school. i used to go to their store on 34th street in the city after school (i went to brooklyn latin and even though it was in brooklyn you’d have to go up to the city and back down, iykyk) and just go in to smell the scents and try on the soaps. the people working there were the kindest people you’d ever meet. and the samples they’d give you would last me weeks omg. i’d love their face scrubs (dark angels you will always be famous) and body scrubs (ocean salt).
it felt fitting to share this theme with a newsletter, something i’m experimenting on to see if it goes well with the vibe my mail club has. so far this first edition was super fun to write; i added a book of the month, a playlist, a little word search game, and mentioned my inspo behind the theme.
anyways, i’m super excited about the stickers and the postcard. i used ohuhu colored pencils to color them again this month. to give it a little childhood whisky vibe. i had to add in a little festive miffy celebrating eid with us! what a cultured queen.
