About me

I’m a researcher in the field of the Study of Religions with a special interest in Graeco-Roman cults. From my early studies in History, I’ve strived to understand the motivations and reasons of human behaviour that underlied significant historical events and multiple cultural expressions throughout history. I found in Cognitive Sciences valuable means to better understand people of the past. Therefore, I would call myself an ardent devotee of Cognitive Historiography.

The Roman Mithras Cult: A Cognitive Approach

“This book is a highly recommendable intervention to the study of religious phenomena in the ancient world that will make the reader reflect critically on their theoretical and methodological stances.”

Healing, Disease and Placebo in Graeco-Roman Asclepius Temples: A Neurocognitive Approach

“It is the first historical study of the Asclepius cult which integrates theoretical insights into the human mind provided by neurocognitive sciences. It can be considered a cognitive historiography of patients who visited the asclepieia as supplicants which aims to deepen our understanding of past minds and, more generally, of human cognition.”

I’d love to show you another view of history…

…and some glimpses of subjective reality…
