About A Handbag Legacy TM
Dear Handbag Lover,
Welcome to A Handbag Legacy™ — where the handbag is only the beginning.
My love for handbags has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. The people closest to me always knew it too. Boyfriends bought me handbags because they knew how much I loved them. Family members gave me bags that became more than accessories — they became memories.
One of the most important is my Coach Christie, given to me by my late grandmother, Aurelia J. Keeling, in June 1994 for my high school graduation. I still have that bag today. It represents so much more than Coach, leather, or fashion. It represents her. It represents that moment. It represents a piece of my life that cannot be replaced.
That is what handbags have always been for me.
They mark moments.
They hold memories.
They become part of our stories.
And yes, the women in my family who helped shape my love of fashion and beauty would absolutely fuss about how much money I spent on handbags and clothes. They loved fashion, but they definitely had opinions about my spending. Lol!
What I did not realize at the time was that all of those moments were becoming part of something much bigger.
My mother and I would joke about my handbags and my collection. At the time, they were just conversations between a mother and daughter. I had no idea she was planting a seed.
After losing her, those conversations stayed with me.
Then on September 22, 2025 — my mother's first heavenly birthday — I woke up with the idea heavy on my mind.
That day, I designed the entire A Handbag Legacy Journal™.
It was as if all the pieces suddenly came together.
The memories.
The bags.
The stories.
The question of what happens to our collections after us.
The need to know exactly what we own and why it matters.
And on October 9, 2025, my 51st birthday, the copyright for the A Handbag Legacy Journal™ became one of the greatest birthday gifts I could have given myself.
What began as one journal quickly became something more.
I realized that my love for handbags was not simply a hobby or a collection. It was a passion I could build around — without ever needing to make or sell a handbag.
That realization changed everything.
A Handbag Legacy™ was created to serve the part of handbag ownership that often gets overlooked:
Everything that happens after you buy the bag.
Today, A Handbag Legacy™ continues to grow beyond documentation and legacy planning. We are building an entire space around handbag ownership — from identifying and documenting bags to care, maintenance, photography, organization, resale preparation, education, collection services, conversations, and preservation.
Through the A Handbag Legacy Journal™, digital resources, educational content, collection services, consultations, The Purseonality Spa™, AFTER THE BAG podcast, photography, and the many ideas still being built, our goal is simple:
To help people become more intentional about the handbags they already own.
Because a handbag does not have to be rare.
It does not have to be luxury.
It does not have to cost thousands of dollars.
And you do not have to call yourself a collector.
If the bag means something to you, it matters.
A Handbag Legacy™ is also deeply personal to me because it is dedicated to the women in my family who helped shape my love of fashion, beauty, style, and self-expression:
Aurelia J. Keeling — my late grandmother
Devera C. Boyd — my late mother
Lelia C. Berry — my late great-aunt
Lynnette E. Anthony — my late aunt
Each of them left something with me.
Their style.
Their lessons.
Their personalities.
Their influence.
And now, in many ways, their legacy lives inside this business too.
I also want to sincerely thank every person who has supported A Handbag Legacy, LLC — whether you purchased an A Handbag Legacy Journal™, downloaded a guide, listened to the podcast, watched a video, shared a post, booked a service, encouraged me, or simply understood what I was trying to build before everyone else could see it.
Every bit of support has helped this idea grow.
And we are still growing.
A Handbag Legacy™ is no longer just an idea about documenting handbags.
It is becoming a place for the entire life of the bag after purchase.
Because buying the bag was never the end of the story.
It was just the beginning.
With gratitude,
L'aurelia J. Keeling
