About the Author

Kerry Alan

M.S. • Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor (Retired) • Founder, AcidStream™ LLC

Kerry Alan has lived with the effects of an intramedullary spinal cord tumor since the age of 26, navigating three surgeries (1990, 1997, and 2021), central cord syndrome, and decades of systemic barriers in healthcare, employment, and public accommodation.

Before his disability became fully apparent, Kerry built a career in radio and television production in Tulsa, Oklahoma, working on live sports and other broadcasts. He later earned his Associate’s degree in Computer Science, his Master’s degree, and became a Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor — giving professional form to everything he had survived.

He founded AcidStream™ LLC with a single mission: to open up the world to people with physical disabilities. No boundaries.

Inside the Book

Three Types of Insights — In Every Chapter

Each chapter weaves together personal narrative, professional guidance, and curated resources — highlighted through three distinct callout box types:

🧭 Personal Perspective

Kerry speaks directly from his own experience throughout every chapter. When he was first diagnosed, he struggled to make sense of his new identity as a person with a disability. These callout boxes bring his personal voice into every chapter — honest, unfiltered, and hard-won.

📌 Resource Spotlight

Each chapter surfaces the organizations, programs, legal frameworks, and tools that actually exist to help — drawn from decades of professional rehabilitation counseling and personal advocacy. No more searching alone.

💡 Expert Insight

As a Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor with a Master’s degree, Kerry translates clinical expertise into plain language — explaining what the systems mean, how to navigate them, and how to advocate effectively for yourself or a loved one.
