When Alanna ran out of horse stories to read at the local library, her father gave her a boxset of The Lord of The Rings. After a couple of weeks, she declared the trilogy a suitable alternative and started working her way through all the fantasy books in the library.

(Though the unicorns she kept sneaking into her own horse stories should have been a clue about where the whole writing thing was going.)

Now, Alanna writes low stakes fantasy with romance. And there's usually a horse or two around that are not of the winged variety.
