How many words are there related to the Human body in Portuguese?
There're so many words to learn about the Human Body in Portuguese, and some of them are used in everyday life making it even more meaningful to know them all.
But, how can I learn them all? How long will it take to do it? Well, look no further.
I'll introduce you to all the relevant vocabulary and propose you my own Mini European Portuguese Vocabulary Course all dedicated to it where I explore this theme in different videos, teach you how to pronounce the words (phonetic transcription) and provide you with flashcards, picture cards, and a list of words for you to practice at your own pace for a low cost.
But first, let me start from the beginning.
The Human body has 3 important parts, as we’re taught in school when we’re young:
1) Head - cabeça
2) Upper body - tronco
3) Limbs - membros
Head (words related):
head - cabeça
face – cara/face
forehead – testa
hair – cabelo
scalp – couro cabeludo
back of the head – nuca
eyes – olhos
nose – nariz
ears – orelhas
ears (inner part) – ouvidos
eyebrows – sobrancelhas
eyelashes – pestanas
lips – lábios
mouth – boca
teeth – dentes
tongue – língua
cheeks – bochechas
chin – queixo
neck - pescoço
Upper body (words related):
shoulders – ombros
chest – peito
breasts – seios/mamas
nipples – mamilos
belly – barriga
belly button – umbigo
hip – anca
back – costas
spine – espinha
Limbs (words related):
arms – braços
elbows – cotovelos
wrist – pulso
hands – mãos
fingers – dedos da mão
nails – unhas

Internal organs
Now let’s learn some words about internal organs. These words can be really important if you’re feeling sick and you need to report how you’re feeling to a doctor.

pharynx – faringe
speen – baço
vocal chords – cordas vocais
lungs – pulmões
stomach – estômago
liver – fígado
heart – coração
intestines – intestinos
uterus – útero
ovaries – ovários

Intimate parts
And lastly the intimate parts of the Human Body:
penis – pénis
testicles – testículos
vagina - vagina
anus – ânus
buttocks - nádegas
What if you need to go to a doctor?
Well, in that case, you need to know the verb "doer"/ to hurt and the verb "sentir"/ to feel.
If you want to say something is hurting:
Dói-me a cabeça! - My head is hurting!
Dói-me a barriga! - My belly is aching!
Tenho dores nas costas! - I have a pain in my back!
Sinto-me mal! - I don't feel well!
Sinto-me doente!/ Eu estou doente! - I feel sick!/ I am sick!
