Now let's explore a bit more the kind of programs you can do with kids in Lisbon and help you plan your visit to this wonderful, lively, European city:
1) Lisbon's Zoo/ Jardim Zoológico: https://www.zoo.pt/
This is a great place to go with your family, located in the center of Lisbon, in Sete Rios, and with excellent public transportation nearby (railway, subway, or buses). There you can find almost 2,000 animals from big cats, primates, reptile's house, children's farm, dolphins and parrots shows, lions, elephants, pandas and so much more.
You can also do a cable car ride that goes around the park, and enjoy the amazing sights of the city from above. Spare a whole day for this trip.

Kidzania, which is located inside a shopping mall in Amadora (outside the Lisbon area), is a great place for kids to spend hours inside. Literally hours of fun!
There's a child-city size where your kids can be whatever they want from a burger flipper, a pizza man, a vet, a doctor, and so on. Also, this place has its own currency (kidzos) and a bank. This is really a must!
3) Aquarium/ Oceanário de Lisboa: https://www.oceanario.pt/en
This is one of the world's largest saltwater aquariums, located in Parque das Nações, Lisbon in which you can find a recreation of different ocean ecosystems: the Antarctic tank has penguins and the Pacific tank is filled with many otters. Really cute!

Hippo trip starts at Doca de Santo Amaro, Alcântara. It'll take you in an amphibious vehicle to explore the city by land and by the river Tagus for a 90-minutes trip of fun and laughter. Your kids will love it!

5) Science Museum/ Pavilhão do Conhecimento - Centro Ciência Viva: https://www.pavconhecimento.pt/
Located at Parque das Nações, Lisbon, this is a hands-on science place where kids and adults have fun experimenting with things together. This place is the perfect fusion of entertainment and education about Science. Your kids will love it for sure as it's child-centered.

6) Ride a yellow tram
These traditional yellow trams are quite popular in Lisbon and kids love them. You can find them in 3 different places: Bica Lift, Glória Lift, and Lavra Lift.
Although they're always crowded with tourists it's totally worth the ride.

This is a big, open place that houses the best restaurants, Chefs in town in Cais do Sodré, Lisbon.
There you can get the best burger, pizza, sushi, ramen, etc. all under the same roof. So if you need to stop for lunch or dinner you should come over here with your kids.
I would recommend going to "Prego da Peixaria", "Henrique Sá Pessoa", "Marisqueira Azul", "Croqueteria", "licor Beirão", "Manteigaria" and "Recordação de Sintra". A must-try!
8) Adventure Park/ Parque aventura: https://adventurepark.pt/en/
This is a huge park located at Cruz Quebrada where your kids can experience the treetop adventure circuit in the family, as well as get the chance to whizz down a 200 m slide and crawl through log tunnels. It's amazing and your kids will love it for sure!

9) Calouste GulbenkianPlanetarium/ Planetário: https://ccm.marinha.pt/pt/planetario
This planetarium is located next to the Jerónimos Monastery.
It's a 330-seat planetarium, adjacent to the Maritime Museum, that has a projector with 32-star projectors capable of displaying more than 9,000 stars as well as the Milky Way, star clusters, and nebulae. A great family program! Tickets can't be bought online.
10) St. Jorge Castle: https://castelodesaojorge.pt/en/
St. Jorge Castle is located in the center of Lisbon and it's a great place to visit with kids.
This is a medieval castle with a beautiful garden, Archaeological Site, and a Camera Obscura. You'll get to see the archeological ruins within the castle's walls, showing evidence of three relevant periods in the history of Lisbon: the settlements dating back to the 7th century, the remnants of the Moorish presence in the 11th century, and the ruins of the Palace of Condes of Santiago destroyed by the earthquake of 1755.
As for the Camera Obscura it's an optical system of lenses and mirrors that provide 360 degrees of detailed views of the city in real-time including its monuments, relevant areas, the river, and the bustle of Lisbon. You can't miss this one!

11) Parque das Nações: https://www.portaldasnacoes.pt/
This is the most striking modern area of Lisbon where you can find contemporary modern architecture. It has different many things to do in the family and especially with kids.
There you'll find a great grass place like Parque do Tejo, where you can wander around, ride a bicycle or skate.
There you can see the Vasco da Gama Bridge, Oriente Station, Oceanarium, Vasco da Gama Shopping Mall, Vasco da Gama Tower, Casino Lisboa, Portugal Pavilion, Pavilhão do Conhecimento and one of the things to do with kids will be going for a 10 minutes ride in the cable car where you can get some stunning sights of the city.
12) Lisbon's viewpoints
Take your kids to see the city's highest viewpoints like S. Pedro de Alcântara, Miradouro das Portas do Sol, Miradouro de Santa Luzia, or Miradouro da Senhora do Monte where you can wander around and get a great perspective of the city's beauty.
13) Tropical Botanical Garden/ Jardim Botânico de Lisboa: https://www.ulisboa.pt/patrimonio/jardim-botanico-de-lisboa
This a wonderful place located at Príncipe Real, Lisbon with 10 acres of dense vegetation and exotic plants, with over 18,000 species from all over the world where you can peacefully wander around with your kids.
It includes a large number of cycads, Australian trees with colossal trunks, and ancient palm ferns.
You can also find there peacocks, ducks, geese, swans, and chickens walking freely.
14) Museum of National History and Science/Museu Nacional de História Natural e Ciência: https://www.museus.ulisboa.pt/
Located in Príncipe Real, Lisbon this is a great museum to go visiting with kids as it offers exhibitions about anthropology, botany, geology, paleontology, and zoology.
It also has a botanical garden, chemical lab, observatory, and an old riding school.
15) Navy Museum/ Museu da Marinha: https://ccm.marinha.pt/pt/museu
This museum contains hundreds of models of 15th and 19th sailing ships, 20th-century warships, merchant marine vessels, fishing boats, river craft, and some pleasure boats.
It also has a pearl-inlaid replica of a dragon boat and Portuguese naval uniforms.
A great museum to see with kids for sure!
