About Me

I'm a retired University Geology lecturer. I always had a passion for all things Geological since as kid. I started my professional geological career after being trained as a geological technician, taught to prepare Geological microscope slides, sometimes referred to as thin sections. So introduced to the fascinating science of petrology and looking at nature’s geo-metric abstract art seen in thin sections of rocks under the microscope. Even now, after 40 years, I never get tried looking at minerals under the microscope. With a microscope camera attachment and an extensive collection of thin sections (which I also make) collected from all over the world. Now keen to promote the knowledge/skill of thin section preparation, which can be done at home with the need to large, heavy expensive machines All can be done entirely by hand, providing a more personal touch so more in tune with the rock sample. Also, keen to provide petrology guides for the most common rock forming minerals under the microscope.
