About Me
For more than 25 years, I have grown vegetables, flowers, and fruit in raised beds. Like many gardeners, I learnt through trial and error rather than formal training. For years, my approach was based around traditional digging, turning over the soil every season, adding large amounts of compost and manure, and constantly battling weeds, especially bindweed, which never seemed to disappear no matter how much I dug.
At the time, I thought this was simply what gardening involved: hard physical work, endless weeding, and soil that somehow never seemed to improve in the way I hoped it would. Despite all the effort, I rarely saw many worms in the soil, and I often felt I was working against nature rather than with it.
Over time, through reading, research, watching others, and experimenting in my own garden, I began exploring a different approach through no dig gardening. What started as curiosity slowly became a complete shift in how I thought about growing food. I began to notice healthier soil, more life beneath the surface, fewer weeds, and a garden that felt more productive and enjoyable to work in.
