Hi, my name's Mia and I am the artist behind Artful Pups Bespoke Canine Caricatures.

So you're probably wondering how this started...

As a child with ADHD, my Mum found that art was something that I could settle down with quietly. I did enjoy it, but as I got older, I got bored, and pushed away from doing it.

I got into skateboarding, and happened to be very good at it, turning professional at a young age. Unfortunately, with skateboarding comes injuries, and eventually, I knew I couldn't carry on anymore.

I turned my artistic talents to tattooing, and I loved doing it, but again, life had it's way and the skateboarding injuries meant that spending all day tattooing was painful and not a long-term career plan.

After 14 years as a Chef, I hung up my apron, and decided to work together with my partner, who runs Home Hounds Pet Business Coaching. I'm not much for computers and was wondering how I could fit into the pet business industry.

Eventually (after a little bit of persuasion) she convinced to me draw a few dogs, in my own style. I didn't believe that I could sell my artwork, and even despite my tattooing past, didn't have the faith that people would like them! How wrong I was!

They were put into a group, and within an hour I had over 120 comments and counting - we had to make a Facebook page so that people had somewhere to go! I was overwhelmed, amazed and couldn't wait to keep going!

So, here I am! I get to do the drawings and see everyone's cute pups, and my partner sees to all the computer-y stuff!
