About Me
Abi Crowther — Founder, Blindish and Thriving · London
"A store assistant once told me I looked too nice to be visually impaired. I didn't have my cane with me. I was so shocked, I didn't know what to say. That moment changed everything."
That interaction — casually dismissive, unintentionally cruel, and painfully common — was the moment Abi Crowther decided that something needed to change. Not just for herself, but for every visually impaired person who had ever been made to feel invisible, incapable, or like they didn't quite fit the image people had in their heads.
Abi lives in London and has been managing glaucoma since 2017. When her sight changed significantly, she did what most newly diagnosed people do — she searched for guidance, community, and honest conversation about what life with vision loss actually looked like. What she found fell short. What she built instead became Blindish and Thriving.
Blindish and Thriving is a brand built on bold truth-telling, self-advocacy, and the radical idea that a visually impaired life is not a lesser life. It is a creative, full, ambitious life — one that simply looks a little different. Through social media, community building, and now this book, Abi is on a mission to make sure that no one with vision loss has to figure it out alone.
This ebook is everything she wished someone had handed her — the rights, the tools, the emotional honesty, and the reminder that thriving is not a destination. It is a decision you get to make every single day.
