So You Made a Vision Board. Now What?

A vision board that just sits there is a mood board.

Pretty, maybe. Forgotten by March, probably.

The whole point was never the board. The board is the thinking. What you are building is a relationship with where you want to go, and that requires showing up more than once.

Here is what I am doing with mine.

Look At It Every Day, On Purpose

I set mine as my desktop background. Not in a folder. Not something I have to remember to find.

If you built a physical board, hang it somewhere you actually look every day. Not the craft room you visit twice a week. Next to your mirror. Above your desk. Somewhere that requires no effort to see it.

Your brain does the rest over time.

Use It as a Decision Filter

When an opportunity comes up, I look at my board and ask one question: Does this move me toward something on here or away from it? This process has already helped me with two decisions that sounded good in the moment but turned out not to be right for me.

The Elementally Blooming Self concept from the framework is useful here, too. Your future self is already on that board. When a choice comes up, you can ask what she would do. Not as a spiritual exercise. As a practical filter. Would she say yes to this? Does it fit the life she is building on an ordinary Tuesday?

For Bloom Elemental that means every workshop idea, every wholesale inquiry, every market opportunity gets run through that same question. The board is not a decoration. It is a tool.

Find Your Token

The framework I used closes with this: identify a physical token that represents your Elementally Blooming Self. Something you can touch, see, or wear. A reconnection point for when you are lost in the weeds or making a hard decision.

I am a jewelry maker. This one was not hard.

I chose a piece from my own collection. Something I made with my hands. When I hold it I am holding my own craft, which is the whole point of everything I am building. If you make things, use something you made. If you do not, find a stone or a coin or something small that you can keep on your desk or wear on your wrist.

Touch it when you forget why you are doing this. It will remind you faster than any motivational content.

Revisit and Update It

A vision board is not a contract. It is a work in progress.

I am planning to check back in every three months. Not to start over, but to ask: is this still true? Has something on here been resolved? Is there something new that belongs?

Your Elementally Blooming Self evolves as you evolve. The board should move with your blooming self.

The Honest Takeaway

I came into this curious and a little uncertain that it would actually change anything. I know how easy it is for this kind of work to feel meaningful in the moment and then get filed away.

What I found is that the value is not in the finished board. It is in the questions that the process forces you to answer. What kind of person do I want to be on an ordinary Tuesday? Where am I trading my real life for the promise of a highlight moment later? What do I actually want, and am I willing to write it down without softening it?

Those questions are worth sitting with, regardless of whether you ever open Canva.

But the board helps. Seeing it every day helps. Having something physical to hold when the direction gets blurry helps.

Making things visible is half the work of making them real. That is not a vision board cliche. That is just how focus works, and I believe in using every tool that works.

When I started this series, I mentioned I would share my finished board. I am not going to. What ended up on it got personal in ways I did not anticipate, and I decided to keep it for myself. I want to say that directly rather than just quietly not do it. You did not miss anything instructional. The framework, the process, the questions, it’s all here. The board I made is just mine. The board I made just turned out to be something I needed to hold onto for myself, and I think that's actually okay to say out loud.

That feels right. Maybe yours will be too.

Thanks for doing this with me.
