My Story
Hi, I’m Brenda - the heart behind Breezin Life. ✨
Before chronic illness changed my life, I spent years helping others as a paramedic and personal trainer. I was strong, active, constantly on the go, and deeply passionate about helping people through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
Then in 2003, everything changed.
I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and it completely turned my world upside down.
The illness became so severe I was forced to retire from being a paramedic — a career I loved deeply. I went from helping save lives to struggling just to get through the day myself. At one point I had a home health nurse coming to the house while being pumped full of IV Rocephin treatments. While the treatments were meant to help, they also destroyed every ounce of good bacteria in my body. Honestly… there were moments I truly didn’t think I was going to make it.
What followed were years of researching, searching for answers, trying to heal, and still feeling incredibly sick.
Eventually, I was diagnosed with Lupus.
Chronic illness is hard. It’s painful. It’s isolating. And unless you’ve lived it, it’s difficult to explain what it feels like watching your body change while trying to hold onto pieces of yourself at the same time.
Then came COVID… and right behind it came MCAS.
Suddenly my body was reacting to foods, medications, stress, smells, heat — things most people never even think twice about. It felt like my immune system was constantly stuck in panic mode.
And as the world keeps turning, now my thyroid has joined the party too with Hashimoto’s. 😂
At this point, if my immune system had a personality, she’d definitely be dramatic.
But through all of this, one thing stayed on my heart: helping people.
I created Breezin Life because I know what it feels like to be scared, overwhelmed, dismissed, exhausted, and desperate for answers. My hope is that by sharing my story, experiences, research, and the things that have personally helped me, others will feel less alone while navigating chronic illness.
I’m not a doctor, and this book is not medical advice. I’m simply someone who has lived through it — someone who understands how lonely and confusing this journey can feel.
If this book helps someone feel seen, supported, or hopeful on the hard days, then every part of this journey was worth sharing.
With love,
Breezin Life 💞
