Meet Jamie Ward

Jamie is a Texas-based artist known for her African American upcycled art, created using recycled materials, and her detailed pencil sketches. A proud graduate of Prairie View A&M University, she brings more than five years of experience in both public and private elementary school settings.

Jamie has always carried a creative spirit, and over the past decade her artistry has continued to evolve. Through her art and illustrations, she celebrates the richness of African American hair, features, and the everyday experiences that shape our lives.

Her work now extends beyond the canvas and classroom into children’s literature and creative educational tools designed to affirm identity, nurture imagination, and reflect the beauty of culturally specific stories. What began as visual art has grown into a broader mission: to create meaningful, accessible works that children can see themselves in and families can experience together.

Through Brushes N Bowls, Jamie creates art from the heart rooted in culture, creativity, and connection.
