It's officially spooky season, and the monsters in the Emporium have delivered. They have been decorating like crazy for halloween. They say the magic is strongest in October.
Mr. P was the first to witness some of the weirdness. He was simply on the library, rearranging his collector finds box, and a candle floated by. Then another, and another. He stood up, curious. Then they disappeared. He shook his head, and thought, "maybe old age hallucinations are starting." (He heard that was a genetic thing in his family.) Then, suddenly, a witches hat came zooming through the room.
This time, he got up to go investigate.
He got to the hallway, and gasped. Sparkles, everywhere. More than usual, and Mr. P does not like sparkles, and wanted to go straight back into the library, but there was another candle floating down to the end of the hallway, and disapeared into another room. This was strange, even for the Emporium, so he followed a suspicious little trail of sparkles leading from the sketchbook, across the hall, and straight toward a coffee cup sitting on a desk. Despite the distraction of all the sparkle, he couldn't help wondering, "is there another monster here?"

And there she was, standing in the middle of the studio, wearing an enormous floppy purple hat and holding a crystal ball almost as big as she was.
Mr. P watched as this peculiar looking monster peered into it. She squinted. She turned it slightly to the left. Then she announced, with great seriousness, "I see something!"
Mr. P leaned into the room closer. "What is it?" he asked.
Opal studied the swirling blue light for another moment. "A sandwich."
There was a long silence.
Mr. P looked at the crystal ball. Then at the monster. "Who are you?" he asked.
She smiled, tipped her floppy hat back a bit and said, "I'm Opal Mystifiddle. Professional reader of crystal balls."
We're not entirely sure what Opal's sandwich prediction means, or why the candles are floating, or where all the witch hats are coming from. Opal assures us that it will all make sense eventually. She's very confident about this. She just needs to do some investigating.
So that's reassuring. Probably.
For now, she's settled into the Emporium, and she's inviting us to peer into the unknown alongside her. To wonder about what might happen, imagine unlikely possibilities, and remember that the world is full of things we haven't figured out yet.
As for Mr. P? He's still investigating the sparkles. And he's keeping a very close eye on the coffee cup. Just in case.
Welcome to the Emporium, Opal Mystifiddle.
We have a feeling things are about to get interesting.
