About Me
I'm Matt Blomquist — a trades instructor with a Master's in Construction Management, currently teaching Building Trades at Lincoln Land Community College after teaching 4 years at Lake Land College, then 9 years at Taylorville (IL) High School.
My students don't just study high-performance building — they build it. Our Taylorville program has designed and built actual high-performance homes, applying the same building science principles in this curriculum.
Build Learn Teach exists because I couldn't find a building science curriculum built for CTE and college trades classrooms — so I adapted one, working directly from Pretty Good House book by Michael Maines and Dan Kolbert. Every unit is built to drop into a real trades classroom.
