The Business of Charity, LLC

Patrina Pelton-Smith is the founder and principal consultant of The Business of Charity, LLC. A 25-year plus veteran in the non-profit world, she began her career as a volunteer for the Lubbock Rape Crisis Center, and held leadership positions with Bay Area Turning Point, Inc., New Horizon Family Center, Inc., and Fresh Spirit Wellness for Women, Inc.


BOC offers a full range of services, including non-profit formation, IRS tax exemption applications (commonly referred to as (501(c)3 applications), fund development, executive coaching, and grant writing. With a team of specialists: Amanda Graves, Rising Grant Consultant; Sharoen Moncriffe, Formation Specialist; and Ima Pelton, former Educational Diagnostician and BOC Proofreader; their diverse experience gives BOC a broad understanding of the clients they serve.


Patrina earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from Prairie View A&M University, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law, and her Grant Professional Certified (GPC) from the Grant Professional Certification Institute. She is a member of the Grant Professionals Association, and continues to augment her skills through local and national conferences.
