Harness Your Inner Calm for Your Pet (For New Pet Owners)
When we go on social media we see images of dogs, cats, and other pets waiting for loving homes. Or we see dogs selling products or appearing in a popular movie.
Dog memoirs have been trending for over a decade so who doesn't want an animal companion to share their life with?
However, adopting or rescuing a pet has its messy bits. We might adopt the wrong pet for our lifestyle or we might not know what to do with the pet once they arrive in our home.
I'll let you in on a secret that isn't being told on social media or even in mainstream media.
There is a messy process that takes place when another species enters your life and in order to live the dream with your well-behaved pet; in order to become like the pet owners you admire with the well-behaved pets, there's effort involved.
This effort begins with choosing the right type of animal to fit into your household and lifestyle.
It involves creating a realistic pet budget.
It involves delegating tasks for the animal's care, if you are a couple or part of a family. Or it involves hiring pet professionals to help you out if you're single or the pet's sole guardian.
And then if you are bringing a puppy or even a rescue dog into your home, you will need to hire a team that includes a trainer and hopefully, an animal communicator.
I often wonder about simpler times when pets came to us as strays or we bought a puppy from a neighbor (not backyard breeders). Our pets were puppies found in a box with a free sign on it.
But those days are long gone and pet ownership has grown more complicated over time and so have our lives. So why not hire a pet coach to help you sort through the details and help you move past your fears around owning a pet?
I wished that I had a coach when I was fostering a dog. In the end an unintentional foster dog led me on my journey to becoming an animal communicator, Reiki practitioner, and pet coach.
My personal journey began with my brother's dog, a German shorthaired pointer named Sobaka. I wasn't planning on becoming a foster for a dog and in fact, I was in the process of looking for a home.
But instead, I lived with my parents for nearly two years while I fostered Sobaka and searched for new home for him.
My task at the time was to rehab an overweight senior dog with several health issues including anxiety. I also experienced anxiety so that was a fun time.
When he had his teeth extracted and was moaning in pain I found myself saying, "If only I knew how to do Reiki, I could help him. And a year later, those words let me to my true life calling--helping you to bond deeply with your Zen pet.
At a time when humans feel more lonely and isolate than ever, having an animal companion to share our lives with seems enticing. And it's mostly pleasurable to share our lives with another species.
I learned the hard way and watched a dog suffer from anxiety because I lacked mindfulness. He was more of a healer to me than I was to him.
Then after making tons of mistakes with rehabbing a dog, and after researching successful pet owners (the ones with calm and confident pets), I worked on developing inner poise and deeper mindfulness.
Today, I'm an animal communicator and Reiki Master who helps pet guardians bond more deeply with their pets.
New to pet guardianship? Nervous about welcoming a pet into your home? Let's go past the intimidating process through research, preparation and gaining confidence through basic mindfulness training.
I believe you can only benefit from hiring a pet coach.
Besides providing coaching lessons (your homework), I also include visualization meditation, Temporal Tapping, Reiki, basic animal communication, and I lead you to inspirational videos that mirror true bonding with another species.
