I have recently learned from a very dear friend of mine #shepowerful that a “Must Do List” works much better than a “To Do List”. Create and set a daily priority of three things that you “must do” before the day or week is done. Three things that will bring you one step closer towards your dreams and goals. There are times when Life happens and shifts your day around even if you don’t want it to. So let’s just set a daily priority or a weekly priority. Something that brings you one step closer to your dreams.
I gave this “must do list” a whirl last month and found that I actually accomplished more than I thought I would. When you don’t have the long list of “to do’s” staring you in the face you can FOCUS better on what will bring you to your end result. I am not sure where my friend found this idea or learned this technique, yet I am very thankful that she took the time to share it with me. I look forward to getting her on Medium, maybe she will share even more information with us about this “must do list”. I have also found that this “must do list” does not interfere with my “normal” daily routine. It actually compliments it.
Here is what I do: I sit down on Saturday’s or Sunday’s (depends what LIFE throws my way) and review my goals that I have set up for myself for the week or month that I am currently in. Then I make a list of all the things that will require my attention so that I can then prioritize them in the order required to reach the ultimate goal. Let’s use my Medium Account (https://medium.com/@candowithlesia) as an example…I have lots of ideas of things I would love to share, so I jot all those ideas down and categorize them. Just like this FOCUS Series I started. The first thing I “must do” is gather all of my information and see what goes with what particular stage. I put all that in order of priority (or what researching has shown me to be the priority). I start a new story for every topic of that series. Take time to look for photos that I feel go best with the article (or story). I proceed to upload those into each story. I label anything that needs labeling. Now it is time that I grab my pen and paper to start putting all the research together in one location under one story in the series. I also label the stories as to which step in the process or series that it will be. Last but not least, I write the story. Edit what may need editing and then get it ready to publish.
For the first week my “must do” would be: deciding on the series in which I feel led to write on, gather all my research, prep the story titles, get all of it together in one location. The next week may very well be working on finding the right photo that fits the series or creating my own photos, uploading the photos, and labeling the stories in the order that they should show up. Week three would be organizing all the research with pen and paper in hand, writing the stories, and doing any editing that may need to be done.
This is just one example of how I do her “must do list”. I also use her “must do list” in my personal life as well. Scheduling repairs, maintenance, or planning a “go through this or that” kind of day. It has become very useful and I am finding that I am actually accomplishing more. I am so Thankful to her #coachsheila for sharing this with me. If “to do lists” have never worked out for you (just like they never really worked for me) then you may want to give this “must do list” thing a whirl and see where it takes you this next week or next month.
Right now my friend is experiencing LIFE. Yet she has at least signed on to Medium. Just search Shelia C Tolbert. Or if you can see my followers, click on her name to sign up to follow her. She is looking to get started this first quarter of 2024. LIFE!!! We all experience it, you just have to do the best You Can Do while going through it. May she be blessed beyond measure for all she is currently handling and getting through. There is light at the end of our tunnels.
