Learning To Focus-Eat Well

BRAIN FOOD TIME: Eat well, avoid excess sugary foods made with refined sugar. Avoid sodas or at least limit your intake. Instead eat nuts, berries, green vegetables. Blueberries have been proven to boost concentration for up to 5 hours after you eat them. If you are a blueberry lover than you should have no issues concentrating on your project after eating these beauties. We love blueberries in this house.

Sugars, especially refined sugars may give you that momentary boost yet the sugar crash you get afterwards really is not serving you the way some B-12 or B-complex would. Look for the all natural ways for that energy boost that you may be needing. There is one product I found awhile back. Yet I am not sure if it is still available or not. It is called ZipFizz. My disclaimer is that it was all natural when I was using it. Have not needed it in awhile. So be sure to read the ingredients before you purchase it. It is a powder that you add to a bottle of water and shake and drink. I preferred the grape flavored one myself. They had three different options at one time.

This year’s motto for me is “More in 2024”. This year I am dedicating myself to a healthier me. Eating healthier. Working out. Drinking more water verses sodas or energy drinks. Staying away from caffeine. I started on this journey just before the New Year actually and already notice a difference with the foods I eat and do not eat. I will admit that I have fallen off and reached for that sugar rush and totally regretted it afterwards.

Look for the healthier options this year. Give it a whirl for a few days and see what you think. Then go for a week. Soon that week turns into a month and that month turns into two months and eventually a year has gone by. Focus on what you eat and drink TODAY verses looking at each and every day of the week. I want to also encourage you to Focus on just the meal you are about to eat (or the snack). Changes occur with one change at a time. The compound effect if you will. One meal at a time. One choice at a time. If for some reason there is not a healthy option, choose the best option available.

It also helps if you know how your body responds to certain foods and drinks. Case in point, for me-I should not eat breads or pastas (man do I love me some bread and pasta)(I make a mean tuna noodle casserole). I limit how much I do it if for some reason it is unavoidable. Yet the other day when I was invited out to lunch, I had a soup and sandwich. I asked for a fork and a knife and I just scrapped the center of my sandwich off the bread so I could cut it up and just eat it that way. I will say that my lunch date did look at me a little weird. Yet I did not let it phase me.

The only person you truly need to answer to when it comes to decisions you make for you…IS YOU!!! Especially when it benefits you the way it does in every area of your life. FOCUS is where it is at. You being able to Focus and get things completed to the best of your ability will benefit you in the long run. So much so that Your Future Self is gonna thank you one day for it.

When you go shopping, shop the outside of the store. Only go into the aisles for spices, flour, sugar (not refined), and maybe some cheeses. Whatever it is you get from the aisles, keep it at a minimum if at all possible. Heck most grocery stores now keep fresh nuts in the produce department. As always, keep your shopping to what you can eat. Please do not purchase things that you are allergic to. Adjust your shopping list if need be. Call your local health food store for some healthy alternatives when you need them. Most health food stores will help you find the alternative.
