Learning To Focus-Hyperfocus

Hyperfocus is where you get into a set project or step of the project and set a timer for a specific set amount of time and you just go at it. You only focus on that one task and for only a set amount of time. Giving it your undivided attention. No interruptions. No distractions. No breaks til the timer goes off.

You may want to use timers to train your brain to hyperfocus on one particular task at a time for a set amount of time. They have shown in multiple studies that to get the most out of this, you don’t want to go more than 30 minutes at a time on a specific task.

One of the things I have done personally is to set a timer to see if I can get faster at a project. I will admit having my music playing in the background is a big help in this. It seems that the beat of the music carries me through the task at hand.

I have also given myself a challenge when doing certain tasks. I will admit, I like to play some of the gaming apps on my phone, with that there are some tasks inside the game that require a certain amount of time. While I wait for that time to pass on by, I see what work tasks I can complete in that timeframe.

Hyperfocus is definitely a method that I personally use to stay focused on the tasks at hand. I may play hard. Yet I also work hard as well. My personality helps some with that. Even when waiting til the last minute to tackle something, I get super hyperfocused on it and that works for me. Find which of these Focus tips work best for you and run with it. Sometimes you have to shake it up a bit in your life. So give all these a whirl and see which one suits you best.
