This is what I do more times than not. Listening to music is my “go to”. It doesn’t matter what is going on in my life, music is in my soul. I have actually used music as a way to pull myself out of a slump when I am in one. It is also what I do when I am on a mission to get something completed, yet my “feelings” seem to have other plans. I just turn on the tunes and play it LOUD! For me, the louder the better (yes I am aware of the effects of playing my music LOUD, I caution you if you are listening to yours LOUD).
I have music I listen to when I am wanting to motivate myself. I have music I listen to when I want to focus on something important. I also have music for those days when I just do not “feel” like doing anything.
For those of you who may not know, I lost my man, my soulmate in March of 2023 and there are still some days when I just don’t “feel” like getting out of bed. Let alone doing anything. Those are the days where I allow myself some time to just lay in bed, curled up with his pillow, wearing one of his favorite shirts, and just allow myself to cry. Allowing the grief has been very healing. I learned a long time ago that it isn’t worth “holding onto” any ill feelings let alone my grief. Music has always been there for me.
What do I listen to? Well, actually I listen to almost all of it. I enjoy listening to jazz while I am focusing on a particular project. There is something about just listening to the instruments with no words that help me stay focused. I also listen to opera music when I just want to unplug and be with the music. When it comes to wanting to get myself moving in the mornings, I choose to listen to the summer hits from 2010. Then when I experience someone attempting to tell me that I cannot do something, that is when I tune into the 80’s and 90’s music. Songs like “We are the Champions”, “Eye of the Tiger”, “Working for the Weekend”, “Danger Zone”, and “Don’t Stop Believing” just to name a few. Coming in February of 2024 will be a membership through my website: https://lesiacaggiano.com. In there you will be able to listen to music that has helped me in almost any situation I have been in. Maybe it will help you as well. Keep an eye on the website.
Hopefully this will encourage you to turn on some music. Relax with it. Work with it. Cry with it. Be one with it. Music can be very soothing and healing for the soul.
Let’s make 2024 The Best Year Yet!!!
