Learning To Focus-Switch Up Your Tasks

This is the last of the Learning To Focus Series. Thank You for following along.

Switching it up between your daily tasks can help you to stay more alert and productive for a longer period of time.

Ever have those moments where you get stuck and are not really sure where to go next. You have been focusing on the same task for so long that you are seeing spots. Especially for those tasks that have multiple steps. I have found that if I jump from one of the tasks to another, the answer I was looking for just “shows up”. Your mind requires some downtime as well. So next time you are focusing on a particular task and the answer is not coming to you, just hop over to another portion of the project that is not related to the current task you are moving away from. Give your mind a rest and look at something different in the project.

For me personally right now, this is extremely helpful. Having lost my man almost a year ago now, he has left me plenty of projects to work on. Thankfully the task list is almost just as large. The biggest project of them all is the commercial property. Inside this project are multiple tasks to be done to complete the project. When I start seeing spots, I head over to a different task to give my mind a break. It usually takes me about an hour (sometimes longer) and the answer I was seeking to the previous task just shows up. The other part of it for me, is finding the help I require to get through some of these things. So when the help is not available, I just hop over to something that I Can Do on my own or with family help. The shifting seems to help me find answers to my questions as well as answers to how best utilize the commercial space.

There are lots of things for me to go through at the commercial property as well. Some days are harder than others. I have his things to go through, his parents things to go through, and the company things to go through. All this requires my intuition to know what to keep and what to toss. When the mind becomes overloaded with that process, I walk away and move on to something else that does not require the same intense concentration. Like sweeping the floors, cleaning the bathrooms, or putting the paperwork all in one box to sort through later when my mind is clearer.

Switch things up a bit every now and again. You never know what you may actually end up accomplishing. You never know what ideas may come to you by simply switching from one task to a completely different task/project.

Step away anytime things seem to get overwhelming or when things just seem to be standing still and not moving anywhere (or at least in the direction you thought they should).

Do these things to take care of YOU!!! YOU are important enough. YOU are worthy enough. YOUR Future Self will Thank You for all your self-care that you give yourself now. These are the times where putting yourself first is a good thing.
