Congratulations!!! You have chosen to drive your own bus with desire, vision and focus! You have also been fueling your bus with positive energy with the right people on your bus. Now that you have that momentum behind you It is time to Drive with Purpose.
Be intentional with the actions you take towards your vision and your dream. Don't be afraid to step out with that purpose. Heck sometimes you may find out that you are indeed very good at it.
There are actually many stories I could share with you here about driving with purpose. Giving it your all! Doing your best! I will choose my favorite life experience on driving with purpose.
I was starting to get settled back in my home town of Valparaiso, Florida after having traveled for three years across the USA. I had been back for maybe two years when a very dear friend of mine invited me up to his office building to meet with a friend of his and a U-Haul Manager. I said: "sure I will tag along, this could be fun."
The U-Haul Manager was meeting the two of them because his friend wanted to start a U-Haul Dealership. My dear friend had the facility and his friend had the business; his friend wanted to add onto his current business. My dear friend was already working a full-time job and his friend's business was keeping him busy, but I didn't think anything of it really. I just figured that they wanted to ear some extra cash.
We met with the manager this particular day so that he could walk around the property and check out the office area to see if it would be a good match for a U-Haul dealership. It was a very good match. The manager liked what he saw. As the three of them were closing up their meeting and signing the contract, the U-Haul manager looks at the three of us and asks: "Ok, who is going to run the office?"
The men looked at each other (I think I saw a wink) and smiled. My dear friend looked at me and said: "What are you doing Monday morning?" To which I responded by saying hesitantly: "I guess I am running a U-Haul Dealership?"
From that day on I gave that business my all. Gave it everything I had to offer it. After the shock of it, of course. I wasn't even aware that the two of them had already discussed having me run the dealership. They were prepared and I was surprised.
I will say that I did drive the U-Haul manager crazy with all my calls and all my questions. I guess it drove him so crazy that he talked with my dear friend about it during one of his visits to our office. My friend reassured him that once I got it, he would probably never hear much from me again.
That's just how I work - I ask all kinds of questions. I want to know how ever thing works and operates. Once I know the ins and outs and am comfortable in what I am doing…watch out world as there is no stopping me!
The U-Haul manager is required to make visits to each of his dealerships once every three or four months. During one of his visits he told me that I had the fastest growing dealership in the area. I actually qualified for U-Haul dealership bonuses faster than any other dealership had. I actually had other dealers ask me how to do certain things when I would stop by. I must say that it was nice to be known as the "Go-To Girl" in our regional area.
I found my groove. I found a system that worked for me. I Just Did It. Without fail I made it happen.
So Drive Your Bus With A Purpose. Make things happen. Learn to be comfortable with being thrown into the "hot seat" as I call it.
Honestly, that particular day I was truly thrown into the "hot seat". I am finding that some of my closest friends see in me what I don't even see inside myself sometimes. So when they throw me in the "hot seat" I welcome it each and every time. My current coach is very good at throwing me into the "hot seat" which has allowed me to grow and transform into the woman I am today. I am so excited to see where I end up a year from now!
Thank You Cyndilu! Thank You to all my past coaches as well. You have all helped me during my transformation…
Just remember to Drive With Purpose!
Give It Your All!
You Can Do It!!!
