I’m the teacher behind Canny English Academy.

I started Canny English because I wanted to create the kind of English academy I had in my head — a place where students don’t just sit with a book and complete exercise after exercise, but actually speak, move, play and use their English.

At Canny English we work with children and adults at different levels, from general English to APTIS ESOL preparation. For me, English should feel real. I want my students to enjoy coming to class, feel comfortable speaking and leave feeling like they’ve actually used what they’re learning.

When I first started teaching, I had to figure out what worked in the classroom as I went along. That meant lots of experimenting, adapting and, quite often, thinking “What am I going to do with them tomorrow?” 😅

That’s how I started creating my own activities. Everything you’ll find here has been used in my own classroom, and I still reuse these activities because they work and my students genuinely enjoy them.

Every teacher knows that feeling when a lesson ends and you think, “That class went SO well today.” That’s exactly the kind of lesson I try to create — and hopefully, these resources will help you have more of those days too. 🤍
