Our products are primarily crafted from two types of plastics: PLA (Polylactic Acid) and PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol).

• PLA (Polylactic Acid): PLA is a biodegradable and environmentally-friendly plastic derived from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane. PLA can be sensitive to high temperatures. If exposed to high temperatures over a prolonged amount of time, it has the potential to warp or even melt. Therefore, if you're in a region that is currently experiencing such temperatures, particularly during transit, it might not be the best choice.

• PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol): PETG combines the best attributes of PLA and PET, offering both flexibility and strength. It is more heat-resistant than PLA, making it a preferred choice for those shipping to hotter climates. PETG also offers a degree of translucency, providing a glossy finish. While it's more durable and resistant to environmental factors, it might not always have the same color vibrancy as PLA.

If your region is currently experiencing high temperatures, it's advisable to choose items made of PETG for enhanced resilience during shipping. We cannot offer refunds or replacements on PLA items damaged by heat during shipping.

PETG is recyclable at almost any facility that accepts plastic, but PLA requires a special facility which is not often available outside major cities.

We're sorry to hear that. If the product arrives with damages, please send us a photo within 1 hour of delivery. We'll arrange for a replacement. This does not include PLA items damaged by heat. We highly recommend choosing PETG if you are shipping to a very hot climate.

We perform a 12 hour alum bath before shipping plants. This is sufficient to kill almost any pests, but we do NOT guarantee they'll be pest free. All our tanks are breeding tanks for various species, and may have snails, scuds, ostracods, fish eggs, fry, and shrimp hitchhike on plant shipments.

Yes! For all our plants, livestock, and cultures, as long as your overnight temperature is above 20°F, we can ship to you if you add a heat pack to your order. Heat packs are required for plant, livestock, and culture orders when overnight temps are below 50°F.
