Build the Base

33" Tomato Cage

The perfect size for the smaller ghost! Turn it upside down to create the frame.

42" Tomato Cage

Create your taller ghost with this 42-inch tomato cage! Flip it upside down and secure the stakes together to make the frame.

8" White Foam Balls 2-Pack

Give your ghosts their adorable rounded heads! These 8-inch white foam balls fit over the gathered tomato cage stakes. The white color helps keep them hidden beneath the fabric.

White Pool Noodle

Give your ghosts some personality! Cut one white pool noodle in half to create arms for both ghosts. Secure them to the tomato cages, then bend and shape them to hold your favorite Halloween accessories.

Zip Ties

Keep your ghosts standing tall! Use zip ties to secure the gathered tomato cage stakes at the top, creating a sturdy base for each ghost's foam head.

Strong Adhesive Tape

Keep those little ghost arms in place! Use strong adhesive tape to securely attach the pool noodle arms to the tomato cage frames. Make sure they're snug before draping your ghosts with fabric.

Dress Them Up

White Faux Shearling Blanket — Full/Queen

The secret to these cozy little ghosts! I used one white textured Full/Queen blanket, cut in half to dress both ghosts. The soft, fluffy texture creates beautiful folds and a warm glow when illuminated from underneath.

Black Craft Felt

Give your ghosts their adorable expressions! Cut simple eyes from black felt and attach them to the blanket with fabric glue. Try different shapes to give each ghost its own personality!

Fabric Glue

Give your ghosts their finishing expressions! Use fabric glue to attach the black felt eyes to the textured blanket. A little goes a long way to keep those adorable faces in place!

Lights & Finishing Touches

Battery-Operated LED Spotlights

Give your ghosts that magical glow! Place one battery-operated LED spotlight inside each tomato cage, pointing upward to illuminate the textured blanket. These are a suggested alternative to the lights I used.

Decorative Pumpkin

Give your smaller ghost something adorable to hold! A small, lightweight decorative pumpkin fits perfectly between its arms and adds a cozy finishing touch.

My original pumpkin is no longer available, but I've linked a similar alternative. Feel free to use a pumpkin you already have!

Black Jack-O'-Lantern Pail

Give your taller ghost a little Halloween personality! Hang a black jack-o'-lantern pail from its arm and add a battery-operated LED tea light for an extra cozy glow.

My original pail is no longer available, but I've linked a similar option to help you recreate the look!

Battery-Operated LED Tea Lights

Add a little extra Halloween magic! Place a battery-operated LED tea light inside your ghost's jack-o'-lantern pail to create a soft, cozy glow. No open flames needed!

Small Screw Hook

Give your ghost a helping hand! Use a screw hook or something similar in the pool noodle arm to hang a lightweight jack-o'-lantern pail. It's a simple way to add a little Halloween personality! Keep the pail lightweight and make sure the hook is secure before hanging it.

Optional Extras and Handy Supplies

Safety Pins (Optional)

Perfect for shaping those soft, flowing folds! Use safety pins to discreetly gather and secure the blanket around your ghosts. Check your sewing supplies before buying — you may already have some!

White Tape (Optional)

Keep your ghosts looking soft and seamless! Use white tape to cover any colored foam that might show through the blanket. If you're already using white pool noodles, you can skip this step!

Check your supplies at home before buying.

Extra Arm Supports (Optional)

Need a little extra support? Metal tent stakes, wooden dowels, or bamboo stakes can help reinforce your ghost's pool noodle arms when holding heavier decorations. Secure them firmly and cover any sharp ends.

Cozy Wildflower Tip: Check your garage or garden supplies first — you might already have exactly what you need!

MAKE THEM YOUR OWN!

The best part of this DIY? No two ghosts have to look alike!

Shop your home, get creative, and have fun giving your ghosts their own personalities. Try different accessories, playful poses, or little Halloween touches to make them uniquely yours.
