County Kildare

On Census night, March 31st 1901, 63,566 residents from 12,528 families were living in 12,160 houses in County Kildare, down 9.5% since 1891 and 45% since its pre-famine peak of 114k in 1841.


72% of those living in Kildare in 1901 were born in the County.


At its lowest point Kildare's population fell to 57,892 in the 1936 Census, and was still only 66k in 1966 before it started to gather momentum in the 1970's. By 2022, it increased to 248k, up almost 100k since 2000.


The county is 418k acres in size.
