SPZ Printing In November!

The time has finally arrived- Space Precinct Zero #1 is getting a print run!

Plans have changed several times over throughout 2021, ultimately resulting in the delay of SPZ making it into the physical world. Properly, at least. Three printed copies of the book exist from the Chandler's Books and Stuff days, through indyplanet (one in the hands of Cody and Kari Johnson and the Comic Chat Authority), which enabled me to offer a print-on-demand version of the book, mainly for US audiences as a result of postage costs.

When I opted to rebrand to DOMA Comics, I also wanted to update Space Precinct Zero. The previous printing had been using different dimensions -the same width but about an inch shorter- and I thought that if it ever ended up on your local comic book shop shelf, you wouldn't see it!

I returned to Jayson Santos and he set to work resizing the pages for a new release, as well as creating new art. This art was originally scheduled to be a standalone art print, but very quickly wound up becoming a cover.

The new version of #1 will be using the original cover for #2, with #1's original cover relegated to the back. When #2 joins #1 in print form in early 2022, the newly commissioned art print will take centre stage as the new cover!

Along with a new cover comes a slightly altered logo and brand new letters, in line with using new software to prepare all the graphics and letters (Affinity Designer) and compile the book itself (Affinity Publisher).

A huge thank you has to go out to Nate Piekos and Blambot for not only the fonts but the know-how to actually put them to good use, which I hope I have done in the book. Nate's book 'The Essential Guide To Comic Book Lettering' was just recently released and I will be flicking through the pages in advance of revisiting the rest of Space Precinct Zero #2 and beyond.

Speaking of beyond, I am excited to begin working on Space Precinct Zero #3 with artist Jayson Santos who is eager to get started on new pages! Hopefully we can bring you the next chapter in 2022, but we are relying on sales of #1 (and #2, coming soon!) to provide the incredibly important funding to get to work.

Thanks for reading,

Chris Chandler

Fresh out of the Space Corps Academy, Emay Reiziger is ready for duty. At least on paper.

Full of self-doubt she'd rather be anywhere other than strapped into a transport shuttle about to rocket off into space.

If it wasn't for her high-ranking father she'd likely cut and run, avoiding the alien invasion that bares down on Earth's only line of defence: Space Precinct Zero.

Space Precinct Zero #1 is available now digitally, and in print November 2021.
