About Me
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, David Merlin Lewin started studying violin at the age of 3 with Alejandro Elijovich. He graduated from the music conservatory of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid obtaining the highest marks in violin, chamber music and composition as a pupil of Polina Kotliarskaya who followed the Russian violin school tradition.
In 2014 David started his master's degree studies at the Hogeschool von der Kunsten
in Rotterdam with the renowned violinist Gordan Nikolic, after which he continued to
be mentored by the legendary Ivry Gitlis.
David’s playing has taken him to the world’s most prominent concert halls, such as the
Berlin Philharmonie, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Madrid Auditorio Nacional,
Barcelona Palau de la Musica and many others playing chamber music, violin recitals,
and Argentinian Tango music. With performances in more than 30 countries including the United States (New York, Washington D.C.), Jerusalem, Luxembourg, Italy and Japan, programmes have featured David’s own compositions as well as his
arrangements for various ensembles.
His works for piano solo can be heard on the album “Youthful Impressions” recorded by the artist himself.
