Personalized Feedback Every Step of the Way

Great writing doesn't happen in a single draft. It develops through thoughtful guidance, meaningful revision, and consistent feedback.

Throughout the semester, every learner receives individualized support designed to help them continue growing as a writer. Rather than simply assigning grades after draft one, I work alongside students to help them recognize their strengths, refine their ideas, and develop stronger writing habits.

Learners receive:

✔ Detailed written feedback on each major essay

✔ Revision guidance with opportunities to strengthen each draft

✔ Clear grading rubrics that communicate expectations

✔ Occasional personalized video feedback for more in-depth instruction

✔ Encouragement and support throughout the writing process

What a Typical Week Looks Like

Live Class

Each week, learners attend a 45-minute live class where new writing concepts are introduced through direct instruction, discussion, guided practice, and analysis of mentor texts and writing examples.

Independent Writing

Outside of class, learners continue developing their current essay through research, drafting, revision, and targeted writing assignments connected to the week's lesson.

Personalized Feedback

Throughout the semester, learners receive detailed written feedback, revision guidance, grading rubrics, and occasional personalized video feedback to help strengthen each piece of writing.

Optional Video Workshops

In addition to our live classes, learners have access to optional prerecorded writing workshops designed to reinforce and extend the skills taught throughout the course. These short, focused lessons provide additional instruction on specific writing techniques and allow learners to practice and refine individual skills at their own pace.

Workshop topics are directly connected to the current writing unit and may include strengthening thesis statements, developing stronger analysis, refining introductions and conclusions, improving sentence clarity, integrating evidence effectively, and other advanced writing strategies. These workshops are optional and are intended for learners who would like additional instruction and practice beyond our live class meetings.

A Supportive Learning Experience

Learning to write well takes more than completing assignments—it requires thoughtful instruction, consistent practice, and meaningful feedback in an environment where learners feel supported and encouraged to grow.

Throughout the semester, students are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, participate in discussion, and revise their writing with confidence. Because enrollment is intentionally limited to eight learners, every student is known, supported, and challenged to continue developing as a writer.

My goal is not simply to help students complete three essays. It is to help them become stronger, more thoughtful writers who leave the course with greater confidence and skills they can continue using throughout high school and beyond.

Writing has always been my greatest passion. I believe every learner can become a stronger writer with clear instruction, meaningful practice, and thoughtful feedback. My goal isn't simply to help students complete an assignment—it's to help them think more critically, communicate more effectively, and develop confidence in their own abilities.
