J Benjamin
My name is Jamie D. Benjamin, and I was born and raised in New Jersey and currently live in Edgewood, Maryland. I am a retired U.S. Army veteran who remains committed to serving my community beyond the uniform. I advocate for disabled veterans and individuals within the disabled community, using my experience to help connect people with resources, support services, and tools that make everyday living easier. My focus is on empowerment, accessibility, and building strong support networks for those who need them most.
Being featured in Crowned for Impact is deeply personal for me. 👑📖
My chapter reflects growth, obedience, and leadership, but it also tells the story of navigating trauma after leaving the military—and learning how to overcome, adapt, and keep moving forward.
Transitioning out of the military came with challenges I never expected. There were moments that tested my strength, identity, and faith. Healing didn’t happen overnight, and leadership looked very different in that season. It meant being honest about my struggles, obedient to the healing process, and willing to accept support, including adapting to life with my service dog, who became a vital part of my journey.
This chapter is about resilience, redefining strength, and learning that asking for help is not a weakness; it’s wisdom. I hope that this story reaches anyone facing trauma, transition, or uncertainty and reminds them that impact can still come from broken places.
I’m honored to share my story and grateful for every step that led me here.
