Dr Muna

A mother of 5 children aged between 2 to 12, she obtained her medical degree from International Islamic University Malaysia in 2007 and completed her internship in 2009 before moving to Perth, Australia where she was introduced to the homeschooling and playgroup concepts.

She was actively involved in organising numerous children’s activities, both individually and under the umbrella of Perth Muslim Homeschoolers’ Group. She returned to Malaysia in 2016 and continued her passion for children’s education by conducting various educational events both for mothers and children.

In February 2019, she started ‘Little Doctors’ Workshop’, a creative multi-sensorial play-based medical incursion especially designed for children aged 5 to 9 years old. As of September 2020, this first-of-its-kind workshop has touched the hearts of more than 1,000 children across the country Alhamdulillah.

Living in a country where many children attend Islamic institutions on a full-time basis, Dr. Muna felt the need for a special basic medical or health curriculum to be established, designed especially for these children. Thus, in November 2020, she started conducting a programme called ‘Basic Medical Course for Madrasah Students’. The course consists of interactive slide shows, worksheets and hands-on activities, covering important health topics relevant to the children’s needs. With the closure of schools due to the pandemic, the course is now available online as well Alhamdulillah.

The eduplaygroup concept has always been dear to Dr. Muna’s heart. She believes that each learning session should not just be educational, but more importantly, it should be entertaining and enlightening as well. Having conducted countless eduplaygroup sessions in Australia and Malaysia, she has seen their overwhelming positive outcome, and realised the importance of making it accessible to all children across the world.

It is hoped, by the Will of Allah, that this book will encourage educators across the globe, including those with no teaching background, to initiate enlightening, entertaining and educational eduplaygroups in their localities inshaAllah!
