About Me
Albert is an aviation training professional and Subject Matter Expert in Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA), with more than 16 years of experience in airline cadet pilot development, instructor capability building, and aviation training management across Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and the region. He has held senior appointments including Chief Ground Instructor, Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor, and Assistant Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor, where he led the design, delivery, and quality assurance of training systems aligned to EASA, airline, and regulatory standards. His experience spans ab initio cadet programmes, ATPL theoretical knowledge, Crew Resource Management (CRM), Threat and Error Management (TEM), and competency development under modern airline training philosophies.
Albert completed the Implementing ATQP and Evidence-Based Training programme with the JAA Training Organisation in the Netherlands, providing him with direct exposure to global best practices in competency-based airline training, performance assessment, and instructor standardisation. He has since applied these principles in developing instructors, enhancing cadet pilot performance, and integrating competency-focused learning approaches into ground school environments. His expertise includes translating regulatory frameworks into practical training systems that improve decision-making, situational awareness, workload management, communication, and professionalism.
In addition to his aviation credentials, Albert is a Certified Mindfulness Teacher and the Director (Global) at the Centre for Mindfulness. He is also the Co-Creator of Calm-in-Command, a structured programme developed to strengthen pilot competencies through mindfulness-based mental skills training. This innovative approach focuses on attention control, emotional regulation, resilience, and cognitive clarity, all of which are increasingly recognised as critical enablers of safe and effective pilot performance. By combining operational training experience with human factors insight, Albert delivers highly practical and engaging workshops that help organisations modernise their training culture and prepare pilots and instructors for the future of competency-based aviation training.
Albert holds a Commercial Pilot Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of the United Kingdom.
