Ask “Then What”

Example of the high-level proposed endeavor summary: My proposed endeavor is to help U.S. energy companies raise capital.

“Then what” — Round 1: How many years will this proposed endeavor continue? How many U.S. energy companies are we talking about? Which specific companies?

“Then what” — Round 2: How much funding will these companies raise? What is the purpose of the financing? What will they actually do with the funds to grow their businesses?

“Then what” — Round 3: After raising, say, $XXX in funding, what impact will that investment have? What will those companies look like then — for example, how many more people will they hire, how much more tax will they pay, how much additional revenue will they generate, and how many more US corporates or US residents will they serve?

So, after all these “Then what” follow-ups, doesn’t Prong 1 become much more solid?

Similarly, for any key point you write, try to ask yourself: “Then what?”
