February is about love!

February is about love, and our new Valentine's Day Preparation Kit and the Kawaii self-care journal support the celebration of love for others and love for self, respectively.

We are based in Kyoto, Japan, so February begins with a huge festival, called Setsubun. It is the day before the beginning of spring according to the old Japanese calendar. Many temples and shrines have events, people eat makizushi rolls while facing the auspicious direction of the year, and householders throw dry soy beans out the door saying "Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi" (Demons out, good luck in). In our neighborhood, Yoshida Shrine has events over two days. On February 2nd, oni (demons) come down from the mountain and scare children. Later that evening, the oni are shown the error of their ways and follow a priest up the mountain. On the night of February 3rd, there is a huge bonfire created from the talisman used over the last year by worshippers. I love this festival, the fire, the food, and the sense of community at the festival.

Then there is Valentine's Day on February 14. In Japan, chocolates and other gifts are given to men and boys by women and girls. Of course, Valentine's Day is not only about romantic love. Our new Valentine's Day Preparation Kit printable will help you prepare, whether you celebrate love with a date, your family, or your friends. The Valentine's Day Preparation Kit includes:

However, we can't forget self-care and self-love! Caring for ourselves is essential for our health and well- being. Self-care is a part of nurturing our practice of self-love. Celebrating what makes us unique and special, our achievements, and our journey in our lives allows us to not only love and appreciate ourselves, but others as well. Our Kawaii self-care journal provides space to explore ourselves, our journeys, and our needs, wants, and desires. It encourages us to identify next actions in our self- care practice, and it gives us space to dream and grow.

If you know me, you'll know that I love my 10 minute daily routines. Using the Kawaii self-care journal, you will first identify what self-care means for you, then decide which self-care practices you want to introduce into your life. You can plan and schedule when you will do your 10-minute daily self-care practice, and decide next actions for larger self-care projects. This practice has made an enormous difference in my life, and I wanted to share it with you.

The Kawaii self-care journal includes 13 different printable page types:

  • What self-care means to me
  • My perfect self-care day
  • Affirmations and quotes
  • My own best friend
  • My people
  • Journaling prompts
  • Journaling prompt answer page
  • Free journaling page
  • Ways to relax
  • Gratitude page
  • 3 note page designs

And did I mention how outrageously Kawaii (super cute) it is? If you like cute koalas, you are going to love the Kawaii self-care journal.
