Emily Greene Knits

My name is Emily Greene, and I’m a designer of knitwear and buildings - not always in that order!

My academic background (and full-time job) is in architecture, but designing patterns for hand knitting has been a full-time obsession since 2016. My graphic handknit designs are heavily influenced by my architectural background, and by my overlapping interests in shape, pattern, and surface design. Through my signature use of diagonal lines and texture, I aim to create patterns that inspire and challenge makers to stretch their skills and elevate their handknit wardrobes.

In addition to my self-published patterns, my modern knitwear designs have been published by Hudson+West Co., Laine Magazine, Brooklyn Tweed, Pom Pom Quarterly, and Woolfolk.

When I’m not knitting (or working), you’ll find me reading voraciously, hiking along the rocky Maine coast, or sewing a new addition to my largely handmade wardrobe. I live in Portland with my husband (and primary photographer), and our troublesome dog, Zoe.

I love nothing more than seeing what knitters are making with my patterns. If you’d like to share your knits, please post your makes on Instagram using the hashtag #emilygreeneknits! You’ll find me posting there as @emilygreeneknits.
