esther nunoo is a ghanaian-american writer and performer from the bronx. esther joined the writer's collective at the brotherhood/sistersol program in high school where she discovered her love for performance poetry. soon after, she began performing at events outside of open mics. during her time at bowdoin college, esther studied abroad in india. as a part of the research for her independent study project, she held spoken word workshops at two universities. after graduating bowdoin, esther completed a fulbright in south africa. outside of class, she held weekly writing workshops and helped students edit and publish a book of original short stories and poems.
esther’s work engages themes of spirituality, culture, identity, love, and mental health. her first book, light soup, was published in may 2020. http://www.esthernunoo.com
