Music Lessons For Young Beginners

It's always good for young children to start learning music. I can help with that! It has been proven by Pediatricians and Child Psychiatrists that learning music at a young age stimulates brain growth and builds pathways for listening and speech.

What I Teach

Music Theory

The child will learn the very basics on what music theory is. They will learn about notes, clefs, and other basic elements of music as they progress through their lessons.

Music Composition

As the child learns the very basics of music theory, they will get the opportunity to create their own basic music, which could be the foundation of something much greater as they grow.

Instrumental Music

The child will learn the basics of playing an instrument! Children love to show their parents what they can do when they learn something exciting, and learning an instrument certainly is one.

Music Lessons For Teens & High Schoolers

Learning music helps teens build confidence, manage stress, and improve academic skills. It provides a healthy outlet for self-expression and connects them with a community of peers. Teens who play music also develop discipline and problem-solving abilities. Music lessons at this stage are designed for students that are beginning to get serious about their musical studies. and to either enhance students performance in their ensembles, enhance their Music Theory, and/or learn to compose for multiple instruments. At this stage, it is also preparing the student for university studies.

What I Teach

Music Theory

In this stage of music theory, the student will learn the basics of progressions, cadences, figured bass, as well as roman numerals depending on how well trained the student is in music theory. Each student will differ on the level of music theory they know.

Music Composition

The more the student learns music theory, the more sophisticated their compositions will get. The compositions will grow from writing solo and chamber music to the path of writing compositions for symphonic band and full orchestra.

Instrumental Music

The student will either enhance their playing skills on the instrument they play in their ensemble currently, or they will learn a new one. Many students play more than one instrument, and some students focus on one instrument. Either way is fine, depending on what the students speciality is.

Music Lessons for University Students

Hiring an outside qualified Private Music Instructor accelerates a university musician's progress. Key benefits include Individualized Instruction that fills curriculum gaps, targeted Performance Preparation for auditions, Constructive Feedback from an outside perspective, and Creative Collaboration to expand musical boundaries outside the university bubble.

What I Teach

Music Theory

For university music students, hiring a qualified outside tutor or coach provides personalized mentoring, real-world career skills, and targeted exam prep. A private coach helps you bridge the gap between abstract academic theory and practical, performance-based playing.

Music Composition

An outside composition coach acts as a sounding board. They can listen to your original music and suggest improvements that fit your unique artistic voice, rather than just grading to a rubric.

Instrumental Music

Private teachers offer specialized Performance Preparation for professional auditions, recitals, and competitions. They help you select the right pieces and master the mental skills needed to perform well under stress.

That's Not All I Teach!

There are many other specialized courses within music that are not listed above. I can teach many of those specialized courses that are within the music curriculum.

So What Are These Other Courses That I Teach?

The study of how music and instruments have changed from ancient times to today. They include the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th Century, and Modern eras of Music.
