Ewan Dobson is a Canadian guitarist, composer and arranger whose career spans more than 20 years. A lifelong student of classical guitar and contemporary instrumental music, he is known for combining classical guitar, progressive fingerstyle, acoustic metal, flatpicking, and original instrumental music.

Dobson has released 21 full-length albums and one single, encompassing a remarkably diverse body of acoustic guitar music. His work includes original compositions, arrangements of classical repertoire by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Niccolò Paganini and Domenico Scarlatti, progressive fingerstyle compositions, acoustic metal, and instrumental music inspired by video games.

One of the major highlights of Dobson's career was appearing as a featured guest on two solo albums by Marty Friedman, formerly of Megadeth. Dobson performs the acoustic guitar parts on “Horrors” from Friedman's Inferno, including the parts written by Jason Becker and Marty Friedman, and also performs the acoustic guitar parts on “The Blackest Rose” from Friedman's Wall of Sound.

Dobson became internationally known through his viral guitar video “Time 2,” which accumulated more than 34.9 million views during its original run from 2010–2025 before being transferred to his personal YouTube channel, where the view counter restarted. In 2011, Time 2 reached #1 on the iTunes charts in Finland, Sweden and Germany, while also reaching the top five in Austria, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Denmark. Across the many uploads and authorized and unauthorized copies of his music and videos distributed across YouTube and other platforms worldwide, the material has accumulated well over 100 million views in total.

His music and performances have reached audiences around the world, and he has toured extensively throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Japan and China, including appearances connected with Gamescom.

Dobson's current musical work encompasses Domenico Scarlatti and Niccolò Paganini on classical guitar, original fingerstyle compositions for both steel-string and nylon-string guitar, and original folk, classical and acoustic-metal compositions for six- and seven-string steel-string guitar.

Outside of music, Dobson is also an avid bird enthusiast and has documented 28 species of wild birds landing on his hand while being hand-fed.
