Hi, I’m Blake!

I’m a firefighter and Sergeant with 5 years of experience in the fire service, currently serving as a Sergeant and Media Specialist. My job allows me to combine two things I love — the fire service and creativity — through photography, videography, graphic design, recruitment, and department communications.

I’ve also been part of my department’s hiring team for the past 4 years, giving me firsthand experience with the firefighter hiring process and what it takes to help candidates successfully navigate their journey into the fire service.

One of the things I enjoy most is motivating people to pursue a career in the fire service. I love seeing someone go from “I think I want to be a firefighter” to actually getting hired and starting their career.

I’m also part of our Public Education and Fire Prevention team, where I get to speak at community events and help educate the public about fire safety and prevention.

I created Fire HQ to share what I’ve learned along the way and give aspiring firefighters practical resources, guidance, and encouragement as they work toward getting hired.
